RUPDB is very scalable. For small scale applications it can be used to build simple embedded data loggers with only a few I/O points. Alternatively it can be used to implement distributed, networked systems that contain thousands of data points and perform email reporting, data file transfers and support many end user display stations.

The RUP Pipeline Telemetry System features the following components: Industrial PC hardware, RUPDB Software package, Communication Links, Live Memory-resident database, Disk-based Historic database etc. A typical RUP Telemetry System acquires field data via 3rd-party hardware using standard or custom protocols.

Pipeline Integrity Monitoring is a feature built on top of the Pipeline Telemetry System. The Pipeline Integrity System (PLIS) monitors the pipeline conditions and carries out calculations to determine if there is a leak in the pipeline.

The Pipeline Integrity Monitoring System uses the PLIS algorithm developed by RUP limited.

The Excursion Monitoring System monitors the position of a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel using a combination of Dynamic Global Positioning System (DGPS) and vessel heading information. The system displays the position and orientation of the vessel relative to an excursion envelope and uses a snail trail to show the history of past movements.
